How We Support & Celebrate Certification
In addition to the other resources, the University Medical Center provides an annual monetary bonus to RNs who achieve and maintain a professional board certification that is above and beyond their job requirement.
THURSDAY BLAST
We recognize new professional board certifications in our weekly Thursday Blast email newsletter shared with all University Medical Center nurses! Please email your new certification information to NPGO@uvahealth.org.
CERTIFICATION RECOGNITION BOARDS
Your practice area may display a wall plaque recognizing the professional board certifications your nursing team has earned:
Managers (or their designee) may use these instructions to request a new or updated certification board for RNs.
Managers (or their designee) may use these instructions to request a new or updated certification board for other roles on the team.
Recognition boards will periodically need to be updated. The beginning of a new year, significant changes in team members, a group of newly achieved certifications, or before National Certified Nurses Day are suggested times to order a recognition board.

NATIONAL CERTIFIED NURSES DAY
Each year on March 19, we celebrate our professional board-certified nurses for National Certified Nurses Day!
Celebration Ideas to consider for your team:
- Display a banner for newly certified RNs
- Throw a mini party
- Themed cupcakes
- Shout outs at a team meeting or huddle
- Include in a team email or newsletter
- Make a bulletin board of tips from RNs who recently took the exam
