Nursing Professional Board Certifications

Each March since 2017, our Certified Nurses Day celebrations include an annual bonus to recognize the accomplishments of UVA University Medical Center Registered Nurses who have achieved professional certifications that are above and beyond their job requirement.  In May 2024, the annual bonus was increased to $500*.  This monetary recognition also helps support costs not already covered by the Health System's Education Benefits Program.  The annual bonus is provided in March in honor of National Certified Nurse's Day.

• Full-time, part-time and wage RNs are eligible for the bonus.
• Certifications are eligible for reimbursement and bonus if they are included on the approved list of professional board certifications.
• Eligibility for the bonus requires that an individual’s job profile requires RN licensure or is a nurse leader who holds an active RN license.
• Certifications that are a Minimum Requirement for an RN's position are not eligible.
• Eligibility for the bonus will be contingent upon providing evidence of a current/active professional board certification at the time of the bonus deadline in their Workday profile and approved by their manager.
• Must be employed at the UVA Health University Medical Center

*This bonus is taxed at the supplemental tax rate
