Champions and peers make a huge difference in encouraging and supporting one another to become certified.  Support can look like sharing study materials, doing test questions together, creating mini-study groups, challenging each other to sign up, and celebrating successes together!

It's important for champions to familiarize themselves with this NPGO certification website and use it as a tool to support certification in their area using the resources available.  

Setting Certification Goals – Local Professional Governance Committees are responsible for setting department certification goals every fiscal year, developing a plan and then evaluating the outcome.  Making this goal visible in your work environment helps to keep it front of mind and motivate those who are considering taking a certification exam.

Champion Tips – UVA Nurses who serve as Certification Champions for their teams shared their strategies, tips and thoughts for how they promote a culture of certification with their teams. 

Celebrating together – Recognizing the work and accomplishment of becoming certified is a fun way to celebrate as a team!
