Becoming a Preceptor
Precepting is a rewarding way to impact nursing by helping to shape the next generation of nurses.
To become a preceptor:
Step 1: RN Preceptor Standards: Manager / Assistant Nurse Manager selects preceptor in collaboration with unit leadership utilizing the Preceptor Selection Tool. This must be completed prior to attending the Preceptor Essentials class (both live and digital options).
Step 2: Attend Preceptor Essentials
Approved Preceptor Essentials Classes:

Live, In-Person Preceptor Essentials class (offered quarterly). For LIVE classes, complete the Pre-work module, prior to self-enrolling into the LIVE Preceptor class in Workday.

Preceptor Essentials On-Demand program (9 online modules included in program)
To maintain preceptor status, 2 Contact Hours are required annually.

Approved Relias Preceptor CE courses that can count towards meeting the 2-hour annual preceptor continuing education requirement. Completion of more than one module may be needed.
