Formal Nurse Leaders

Formal Nurse Leader Mentorship Program

This 6-month mentorship program provides Assistant Nurse Managers and above with peer support as a UVA formal leader.  The content and focus aligns with AONL and Korn Ferry competencies for nurse leaders, as well as data from the employee engagement survey. Participants meet monthly as a mentee/mentor pair, as well as a full cohort ad hoc based on the cohort's interest.

Topics include: Strategic planning, team engagement, professional networking, leader well-being, and finance/budgeting.

    Program Dates:

Beginning in Summer 2026, the Formal Nurse Leader Mentorship Program will be integrated into the Press Ganey Leadership Development (PGLD) Program. Assistant Nurse Managers, Nurse Managers, and Nurse Directors who are participating in the course will automatically be enrolled as a mentee.  The Mentorship Program will leverage the curriculum and integrate UVA resources to support leaders new to the role and new to University Medical Center.

Cohorts will be offered quarterly, in alignment with the PGLD schedule.

Leads: Joseph Hulsebusch, Director, Outpatient Surgery Sites & Jeffrey Eavey, Director, Medical & Surgical Subspecialties-B
